  • We at Sentiss are committed to conduct our activities in the utmost diligent manner and achieve the highest level of excellence in the field of Environment, Health & Safety (EHS). The importance of EHS is continually emphasized and extensively promoted as a part of our culture.
  • Environmental care forms a part of our core value system and our commitment to it is well defined in our EHS Policy. The implementation of the EHS Policy is ensured by institutionalising a robust EHS Management System, adequately supported by a well-defined organisational structure.
  • The EHS policy governs and illustrates all the activities to ensure a safe and healthy workplace as well as a clean environment for both the employees and the community. We aim at the highest international standard in plant design, equipment selection, maintenance and operations. The EHS policy is our commitment to manufacturing of products in a safe and environment conscious manner.
  • The Corporate EHS not only lays down the guidelines on systems, policy and training but also monitors compliance, maintains and disseminates information on laws and regulations. To monitor the progress against the charted improvement plans, the EHS performance is periodically reviewed at facility, divisional and corporate levels. One of the key factors attributing to our high standards of environment protection and safety is the close cooperation between all units, systems and individuals.

Environment and Safety Facilities Available at Various Locations

  • Effluent treatment plant: All sites have effluent treatment plant with primary, secondary and tertiary treatment facilities.
  • Incinerators: manufacturing sites have rotary kiln incinerators designed as per latest CPCB guidelines.
  • Multiple Effect Evaporators: Manufacturing sites have multiple effect evaporators for high TDS streams.
  • Fume Incinerator: Fume incinerator for control of VOCs and odorous gases.
  • Scrubbers: Multiple stage scrubbing systems in each plant at all manufacturing sites
  • RO plant: RO plant for recycling treated effluent.
  • Advance oxidation: Advance oxidation for treatment of refractory COD streams.
  • Fire hydrant systems: Fire hydrant system with adequate water reservoirs at all sites.
  • Fire tenders: Multi-purpose fire tenders at manufacturing sites.
  • Sprinkler systems: Sprinklers in all flammable storage locations.
  • Detection and Alarms: Detectors and alarms for fire/ smoke, VOCs, toxic gases and flammable gases.
  • Occupational Health Centre: OHC with ambulances at all sites.

Attaining our EHS Objectives

We attain our EHS objectives through : –

  • Developing systems as per ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems in manufacturing and R&D facilities and getting them certified. (All manufacturing and R&D sites are ISO14001 and ISO 45001 certified) .
  • Developing relevant safety data for all products and intermediates handled at the initial design stage itself.
  • Detailed risk assessment of all chemical processes and implementation of the required Independent protection layers at the design stage to maximize process safety.
  • Identification of hazards and assessment of associated risks throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Implementation of all required safety measures at all the stages of lifecycle of product or process.
  • A robust process change management system.
  • Effective and continuously evolving systems for work permits, reporting and investigation of incidents and near misses, management of personal protective equipment, standard operating procedures, work place safety, inspections and audits.
  • Elaborate firefighting system comprising of alarm systems, manual call points, sprinkler systems, pressurized fire hydrant system, fire tenders and a well-trained team to handle emergencies.
  • An effective ‘On site emergency’ plan to better equip our emergency handling capability. We have well-trained emergency response team and state-of-art emergency facilities/gadgets, emergency communication system and emergency control center. In addition, we also continuously strive to increase awareness in employees and surrounding public on emergency handling and conduct mock-drills on various emergency scenarios to keep ourselves prepared.
  • A well-defined system for contractors’ and visitors’ safety that also encompasses training on basic plant safety and use PPEs.
  • Working continuously for resource optimization for reduction in raw material consumption, generation of waste, water consumptions, energy consumptions, solvent consumptions etc.
  • Adoption of latest and the best technologies available for the management of effluent/ emissions.
